About US

We are Chuck, Cheryl, and Shadow and we’re full-time RVers living in our 29′ Wildcat Fifth Wheel Trailer pulled by our 2002 GMC 2500HD Diesel pickup, traveling wherever we want to go and staying wherever we want to spend some time. As they say, “Home is where we park it.”

We began camping way back in the early 1990s. We started with a little Subaru Justy, a tent, and some camping equipment and stayed at KOAs with our two pups, Chiisai and Shadow. In fact, they’re the reason we started camping in the first place. We liked to travel and got tired of being turned down at hotels and motels that didn’t accept pets. Relegated to Motel 6s (just about the only motel that accepted pets back then) and having to hide one of our dogs (the rule was one dog only, so it was a good thing they looked alike!) we decided there had to be a better way.

As do most RVers, we eventually moved up from tent camping and got ourselves a camper. Our first was a used 13′ Scamp. This was great for local, weekend trips, but wasn’t big enough for a long-term, cross-country adventure so we sold it and moved on to a much larger pop-up style camper. This was great for the extra room, but turned out to be not so great for a cross-country trip. We took it on a journey from Florida to the Pacific northwest and found out very quickly that raising and lowering it day in and day out was not a lot of fun. So while in Oregon we traded up again – this time for a 19′ Forest River Travel Trailer. Ahhhh! Now we were living! What can I say – we were learning as we went.

After returning from our four month journey we decided that living the traveling life full-time was something we might like to do. We talked and dreamed about it for several years before finally deciding life was too short to keep dreaming – it was time to just do it. Determining that a full-time life on the road needed a little larger camper, we traded our Travel Trailer for our current 5th Wheel. We ‘simplified’ our life (read sold or gave away all the STUFF we didn’t need yet had accumulated over the 23 years we’d been married to each other), rented our stationary house, and took off on the open road – and here we are.

Chuck and I are both Marines, though I have a lot less time in service than Chuck who retired as a Master Gunnery Sergeant after 30 years in the Corps, lots of time overseas in the Far East and two tours of duty in Viet Nam. The itch to travel must come from our military experiences, as we both don’t like to stay in one place very long – we love to explore new places and experience new things. We live for adventure.

We’ve started this blog, “Full-Time DreamCatchers” mostly to let family and friends know where we are and what we’re doing and to chronicle our adventures and share the things we’ve learned, our opinions, and pictures and videos of our RV and other travels. So, WELCOME! Explore our blog, see where we are now, and feel free to leave comments or contact us. We hope you enjoy reading about our RV life as much as we’re enjoying living it.

See you on the road!
