We are currently staying at the Desert Oasis RV Park at NAF El Centro (the Navy’s Blue Angels winter training grounds) in El Centro, CA. So far everyone is super friendly and it is a nice change from Las Vegas – in that the temperatures are in the warm 70s during the day and relatively warm 40s at night. It’s so nice to go outside without a jacket for the first time in a few weeks! The scenery isn’t that great – just more desert – but the very small base has some nice amenities (though you can’t beat Las Vegas for things to do!). San Diego is about a two hour drive West and Yuma, AZ is about an hour East. We will keep ourselves busy for the next week to three seeing both places, as well as some interesting sites around here. We’ve learned that the ‘official’ Center of the World is located nearby.
Also, the Salton Sea is but a little drive as well – we passed it on the way here from Twenty-nine Palms. We’ll have to check both of them out. Then it will be on to Quartzsite – the RVer’s Mecca for the winter!
